Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. …[However] if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”. In John 8:34, 36, it seems everyone is pushing for more freedoms these days – sexual freedom, gender freedom, and freedom from traditional constraints placed on society from the past. Even Christians are anticipating that religious freedoms will continue to erode regardless who is elected in November.
Last week, we looked at the Bible and what Romans 5 has to say about how to experience peace and grace. This week, we will look at how to experience true freedom. What is true freedom? Is it doing whatever we want whenever we want to do it? As followers of Jesus, what does it mean to be absolutely free? The topic of freedom is a topic we should be clear about if we want to talk about the ‘shoulds’ and ‘should nots’ of the Bible. So, join us this Sunday as we look at the rest of Romans 5 and chapter 6.
